Job Description

plan.com are an IOM based, UK focussed telecoms and software company. We develop award-winning software and portals in-house, from our state-of-the-art Isle of Man headquarters (soon to be unveiled) - the Isle of Man’s most prestigious offices, based in the heart of Douglas, the Isle of Man’s capital city. 

You will be joining a team of around 15 front and back-end developers, analysts, BAs, testers. As one of our testers you will be responsible, as part of the team, for the testing of our new and existing systems to our very exacting standards.  

Providing functional and non-functional testing: web, mobile, UI testing; API/web services as well as working with databases will mean that the job will be busy and bound to keep you interested. Whilst currently using a mix of manual and automated testing this role will also allow you to use AGILE methodologies.   

Your success will depend on your ability to continue to develop new skills, challenge the status quo and learn from some of the best in the industry.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Functional and non-functional testing: web, mobile; UI testing; API/web services; work with database
  • Various bug tracking systems and documentation: test plans, testing strategies, checklists, test cases, use cases
  • Testing to detect inconsistencies, contradictory requirements, and defects in design
  • Participation in test automation, as required
  • Collaborate in the creation of project estimation to support planning
  • Applying AGILE methodologies as required
  • Creation of test designs, test processes, test cases and test data.
  • To be aware of the safety and protection of all personal information in the workplace that you come into contact with; whether this is for a customer, a supplier or colleague; and where any doubt exists to escalate the issue to line managers as a matter of urgency

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • 1-2 years experience in testing web and/or mobile applications. 
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and influence opinions across all levels of stakeholder. 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities of the nuances of different test documents
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle
  • Ability to work in a busy team and also to remain self motivated as required
  • Familiarity with project estimation techniques and experience with Agile methodologies
  • Experience with databases and SQL
  • Experience with GIT
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes, Jenkins

Desirable Education and Qualification

  • ISTQB
  • No specific educational qualification required for this role.
  • Tertiary Level education (Graduate, Diploma etc)
  • Isle of Man Worker
